Abstract

As per the government of Malaysia's movement control order during Covid-19 pandemic, students were required to take their classes online. This research aims to investigate the relationship between students' motivation and academic achievement, including how motivation differs by gender, place of residence, and academic year. This research had 62 participants from University Malaysia Sarawak. The questionnaires include the Academic Motivation Scale-College Version (AMS-C 28) by Vallerand et al (1993). Findings demonstrated a positive correlation between students' motivation and academic achievement. Furthermore, motivation varies significantly depending on gender and place of residence but not academic year. The findings of this study can be used as a reference point for future educational plan by the institution
